Elmira, NY: Age 61 of Elmira, NY. He was born December 24, 1952 in Savannah, GA, son of the late John Bird of Jacksonville, FL and Catherine (Willie) Wells of Elmira, NY, and went home to be with the Lord on Friday, September 26, 2014. He is survived by his soulmate, Barbara Marie Flores-Sanders of Elmira, NY two daughters: Octavia Patnichole Black of Palmdale, CA, Rochelle Renee (Frances) Acuña of Palmdale, CA, sister: Debra (Sullivan) Nelson of Rochester, NY and two brothers: Anthony (Tonya) Williams Sr. of North Adams, MA, Edwin (Stephanie) Geter of Buffalo, NY his aunt; Eula Mae Wilson of Jacksonville, FL, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Donald was referred to by many as 'The Waffleman'. He enjoyed his time as a coach, a bowler, and a fisherman. Donald was a Section IV champion starting center for the 1972 Southside High School basketball team. A celebration service for Donald's life will be held on Saturday, October, 11th 2014 at 11AM at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church at 402 Sullivan Street in Elmira, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations for Donald's services can be sent to Walter J. Kent Funeral Home, 858 Lake Street, Elmira, NY 14901.
